Polished and aroma-blessed Nebbiolo from celebrated producer Giacomo Conterno. Up here in Gattinara, along the the alps in northern Piemonte, modernity meets tradition with this complex and age-able red, showing graceful tannins, smooth black/blue fruit and a persistent finish.’

Giacomo Conterno is perhaps one of the greatest Barolista’s around today. He comes from a storied family in the Monforte d’Alba of Barolo, who have been farming high-quality Nebbiolo for over 4 generations. In 2016, Roberto Conterno acquired one of the most historic estates in the area of Gattinara in Alto-Piemonte. Nervi has a deep history in the region since 1906, farming Nebbiolo on the old friable morianic soils known throughout this area, giving the wines an upright and nuanced expression. Conterno takes the usual bright, dry and floral Nebbiolo from these alpine hills and imbues them with character, depth of fruit and a real sense of place. This is the first year when this historic winery is fully under Roberto Conterno’s watchful eye, leading to the increase in price. Worth every penny!
