Ettore Germano NV Metodo Classico Rosato Extra Brut ‘Rosanna’ Piemonte
Bright berried and beautiful sparkling Nebbiolo from Sergio Germano, a winemaker in Barolo celebrated for his precision.
One of the stand-out producers in Barolo is Sergio Germano, a 2nd generation winemaker in the village of Serralunga d’Alba, Barolo. After several years at oenology school and making wine for the behemoth estate Fontanafredda, Sergio returned home to tend his father’s vines. His wines are a paradox, showcasing a light touch within some of Barolo’s most structured Cru’s. Serralunga Barolo can be some of the most long-lived, most opulent, yet Sergio produces clean-lines and polished tannins in his wines. He grows 100% certified organic grapes and produces Barolo in Prapo, Cerretta, Lazzarito and Vigne Rionda, an enviable portfolio indeed. This is a sparkling Rosato made from Nebbiolo grown in the furthest reaches of Dogliani, a collection of villages to the south, occupying higher altitudes. With all of the sparkling wine being made in the Langhe nowadays, this is among the most solid expressions, showing its bright and refreshing complexion through the lens of floral and nuanced Nebbiolo. This is an aperitivo wine, with enough pop to pair with trout, roasted veggies, even pizza!
